Hey! Where's Wayne Newton?
Mr. Las Vegas himself, Wayne Newton, wrapped up a multi-year run at the Stardust in early 2005. Since then he's had short runs at other hotels in town but does not currently have a permanent home on the Las Vegas Strip. Newton is scheduled to perform at the Flamingo through early July, but it's still unknown if he'll be playing in town in late September, or where he'll be if he is.
For the latest information on Newton's schedule, please visit his official website.
Don't Forget About Downtown Vegas...
The Strip isn't the only place to find Vegas-style fun. If you're more interested in visiting the "old school" casinos, a trip to Fremont Street (aka "Glitter Gulch") is just what you need. Downtown Vegas pre-dates the Strip by over three decades and is the true birthplace of Vegas gambling.
These days, five blocks of Fremont Street make up the "Fremont Street Experience." The area is covered by a roof that serves as the viewing screen for Viva Vision, a state of the art light and sound show that runs several times per night. The Experience hosts many live musical performers, both on stage and at street level, and is home to a wide array of vendors. For more information, visit the official website for the Fremont Street Experience.
While you're downtown, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Vegas Vic, the waving neon cowboy. Vic has been a Fremont Street institution since 1947.
And Everything Else...
The above list barely scratches the surface of what Las Vegas has to offer. On any given night, we have more entertainment options than just about any other city in the world.
